Southall Medical Centre is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated practice nurse to join our dynamic clinical team. The successful candidate will ideally have experience working as a nurse in Primary Care. Main duties of the job The following are the core responsibilities of the practice nurse. Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs Cervical Smears/Cytology Long-term conditions reviews (e.g. diabetic checks, asthma checks, care planning, non-diabetic hyperglycaemia checks) Routine immunisations (e.g. shingles, pneumococcal, flu) Childhood vaccinations Contraception / pill checks Wound care / ulcer care / Removal of Sutures New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis Travel vaccinations ECGs Asthma/Peak Flow Readings Venepuncture/Phlebotomy Hypertension Management Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate About us Southall Medical Centre is a friendly, welcoming GP practice with two surgeries in the heart of Southall caring for over 9,500 patients from the local area.
