Job Title: CNC Machinist/CNC Turner (including 3 & 4 Axis Milling)
Reporting to: Machine Shop Team Leader
Location: Avonmouth, Bristol
Contract Type: Permanent / Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per Week
THE COMPANY
Fowlers of Bristol (Engineers) Ltd is a well-established Bristol based manufacturing firm which produces high quality, sheet metal & precision engineered products predominantly for the Aerospace, Defence and Nuclear industries. Approvals include AS9100 and ‘Fit for Nuclear’ (F4N) status. We employ approx. 29 staff and have a turnover of approximately £3M per annum.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The CNC Machinist will be responsible for the set-up and machining of production parts on the various CNC mills and lathes (tailored to suit skills and experience). On machine programming using Shopmill/Shopturn; Fusion 360 software used to generate complex programs. All machines have Siemens 810/828D controls and our machines include;
* Mazak VTC 760C (including a Rotary 4th Axis)
* Hardinge GX1000
* XYZ 560 Mini Mill
* XYZ 710HD VMC (including a Rotary 4th Axis)
* XYZ 1100HD VMC (including a Rotary 4th Axis)
* XYZ 200TC Lathe
* MACH 203 Lathe
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Set and Operate VTC, VMC and Lathes using Siemens 810D / 828 (Shopmill/Shopturnl Control) or similar.
2. Write programs using off-line programming software using Fusion 360 (if skills/experience allow).
3. Read and Interpret Engineering Drawings.
4. Work to fine tolerances.
5. Inspect machined parts.
6. Ensuring machine downtime is kept to the absolute minimum.
7. Liaising with the Team Leader & Production Scheduler to ensure work going through the machines is produced in a timely, efficient and safe manner to meet both customer & company targets.
8. Supporting the QRQC Lean processes for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost & People initiatives and reporting.
THE PERSON
The ideal person will have;
1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role with a broad range of workshop skills
2. Knowledge and experience of setting/operating Vertical Machining Centres
3. Knowledge and experience of setting/operating CNC lathes.
4. Knowledge and experience of using traditional manual machine tools (Mills, Lathe, Grinder).
5. Ability to work on own initiative to produce jigs & fixtures required for production.
6. Ability to check own work prior to independent inspection
7. I.T. Literate (Outlook, Word, Excel and if possible Fusion 360 or other CAD/CAM software)
8. Desire to contribute positively and work as part of a small team.
9. Working knowledge of LEAN principals
THE PACKAGE
Salary: £15.00 to £18.75 per hour (depending on skills, capability and experience)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week between the following times; Mon to Thurs = 7.15am* to 16.00pm*, Fri = 7.15am* to 12.00pm*.
Full Time Position, overtime may be required as the job demands which is paid at the following rates; 1.33 x hourly rate for first 4 hours, 1.5 x hourly rate for any overtime worked after the first 4 hours.
* Flexible Working – Start times can be set based on employee preference to suit travel and childcare arrangements. The factory typically opens at 5.15am each day so a start time in increments of 15 mins can be requested from 5.15am through to 7.15am. Finish times adjusted accordingly.
Holidays: 26 days holiday pay + statutory days (pro-rata based on a 37.5 hour working week).
Bonus: Sales Bonus which normally ranges between £15 to £50/week (eligible after probationary
period)
