Overview
Special Operations is excited to offer an opportunity to join the team in a newly developed SORT Instructor role. The position is based at Ashburton Point (Manchester) and Elm Point (Liverpool) and will play a key role in delivering high‑quality education and training across all North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) SORT programmes.
Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the planning, delivery, and evaluation of SORT training, ensuring all content aligns with approved clinical, operational, and educational standards.
Working with internal teams and external NHS partners, you will support workforce development by ensuring clinical staff are equipped with the skills and confidence required to operate safely and effectively within their scope of practice.
You will also maintain accurate and timely training records, ensuring all information is managed in accordance with Trust governance requirements and professional standards.
In this role, you will design, deliver, and evaluate engaging training that reflects organisational priorities and supports ongoing workforce capability, teach using contemporary education methods, demonstrate best‑practice clinical skills, and assess learner competence to ensure operational readiness.
Maintaining a safe learning environment and ensuring robust documentation and compliance will form a core part of your responsibilities.
You will collaborate with managers and multi‑agency partners to identify training needs, support specialist recruitment activities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of SORT training programmes.
The role includes managing specialist equipment, supporting programme planning and capacity forecasting, and ensuring training remains current with national guidance and evolving operational requirements.
As an integral member of the Special Operations education team, you will provide coaching and professional support to staff, contribute to curriculum quality assurance, and engage with regional and national forums.
You will help strengthen partnerships with external agencies and education providers, promoting interoperability and consistent, high‑quality specialist training across the wider system.
