Position Details
* Title: Principal Clinical Psychologist – Band 8b
* Contract: Secondment, 0.6 WTE – 9 months (maternity cover)
* Location: Brooklands Hospital – Coleshill Road, Marston Green, Birmingham, B37 7HH
* Salary: £64,455 – £74,896 per year, pro rata
About the Service
The SATS and CAMHS Psychological Services team are part of a well-established, supportive service on the Brooklands site. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role supports adults and young people with intellectual disabilities. The service has strong links with local training courses and provides placements for trainee clinical psychologists.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct specialist clinical assessment and formulation.
* Deliver person‑centred interventions (individual and group).
* Provide support to staff from other disciplines in delivering psychological interventions.
* Create care plans using a Positive Behavioural Support approach.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Post‑graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (or equivalent) approved by the HCPC.
* Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Post‑doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
Knowledge
* High level knowledge of at least two specialised psychological therapies relating to people with learning disabilities.
* Strong communication skills – oral, written and technical – for clients, families, carers and professional colleagues.
* Experience of teaching and training others using complex multi‑media materials.
* Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
Experience
* Significant assessed experience as a qualified psychologist.
* Experience working with a wide variety of client groups.
* Experience working with people whose behaviour presents a challenge to services.
