Postdoctoral Research Associate or Assistant Research Professor in Cosmology (Fixed Term)
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Grade 7) or Assistant Research Professor (Grade 9) position in cosmology within the Relativity and Gravitation Group of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.
We are particularly interested in candidates who wish to collaborate with Professor Blake Sherwin on CMB or large‑scale structure cosmology, especially areas related to CMB lensing or kSZ science. The successful candidate will work primarily with Professor Sherwin and other members of the Relativity and Gravitation Group and with research staff and PhD students, and has close links with the Kavli Institute for Cosmology and the HEP group in DAMTP.
Qualifications
* PhD in physics, astronomy or a related field, or expected to obtain one within a short period.
* Established track record of original research and experience collaborating in research projects.
Responsibilities
* Develop and conduct individual and collaborative research projects, prepare proposals and funding applications.
* Plan and execute research independently, with guidance if required.
* Communicate technical material clearly to colleagues and external audiences, deliver seminars.
* Assist or supervise student projects and mentor colleagues.
* For Assistant Research Professors: manage research budgets, secure external funding, contribute to teaching, supervise postgraduate research students, and perform appraisals.
Contract Details
Start date: October 2026.
Fixed‑term contract available for 3 years initially.
