Job Description:
The right applicant for this role will be someone with a consultancy or Defence background, capable of working autonomously or within engineering and cross-functional teams. The Head of Systems and Supportability Engineering will build a team and collaborate with other departments to set strategy and support complex Government programmes. Responsibilities include managing requirements throughout the Systems Engineering lifecycle, from elicitation to testing and acceptance.
Focus areas include:
* System and System of Systems Architecture
* MBSE
* Integrated Logistics/Product Support
Key responsibilities:
* Define department vision and strategy in collaboration with other leads.
* Lead meetings to share knowledge, coordinate activities, and address issues.
* Assign consultants to projects, supporting business demand.
* Identify training needs and develop training programs for team members.
* Mentor staff on Systems Engineering and ILS tools and techniques.
* Assist in bid preparations and client presentations, and identify new capability needs.
* Provide technical oversight on projects to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Required skills:
* Experience in Requirements Engineering, Logistical Support, MBSE, and Engineering Governance within a consultancy.
* Background in requirements management within defence.
* Knowledge of the UK acquisition framework (e.g., Business Cases, URD, SRD, CONEMP/CONUSE, ITEAP).
* Proficiency with DOORS/Dimensions RM software.
* Understanding of complex system of system projects, especially integration and performance acceptance.
* Capability development of new tools and techniques.
* Leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
* Stakeholder management skills.
* Experience in employee and team development through training.
