A leading Architectural Metalwork and Fabrication company in Colchester is looking for a skilled Designer to join their team. The company delivers a wide range of services including design, metal fabrication, welding, and specialises in architectural and structural steelwork for commercial and residential projects.
As a Designer, you will produce accurate 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Advance Steel, supporting projects from concept through to fabrication. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and the fabrication team to ensure designs are practical, precise, and meet high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Produce 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Advance Steel
Prepare general arrangement (GA) drawings, fabrication drawings, and material schedules
Interpret architectural and structural drawings into fabrication-ready models
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to ensure design accuracy
Resolve design and detailing queries throughout project delivery
Ensure all drawings and models comply with project specifications and quality standardsSkills & Experience Required
Extensive experience with Autodesk Advance Steel
Proven experience in architectural steelwork design
Façade design experience is desirable
Experience with structural steelwork projects is beneficial
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
