Job Title: Advanced Phlebotomist
The post holder is required to work as an Advanced Phlebotomist collecting blood samples by venepuncture from patients in various Hospital & Community settings. This role involves lone working in patients' homes, off-site blood collecting units, and INR clinics, and carries a high degree of autonomy. The job includes the direct handling of body fluids such as blood and urine. It is suitable for individuals seeking part-time or full-time hours.
Main Duties:
1. Perform venepuncture on patients.
2. Co-operate fully with senior staff to deliver high-quality Phlebotomy services in both hospital and community settings.
3. Participate in performance review systems as required by the Phlebotomy Manager and Supervisor.
4. Provide cover for extended hours, including weekends and bank holidays.
5. Lone work in patients' homes, ensuring safety for both patients and staff, and liaising with GPs, District Nurses, or Emergency services if patients are unwell.
6. Manage patient queues and expectations through excellent communication skills to ensure efficient clinic operations.
7. Foster good relationships with medical, nursing, pharmacy, and other staff.
8. Communicate clearly with patients about the venepuncture procedure, helping them remain calm and reassured.
9. Ensure patient ID details are correct and match request forms before performing venepuncture.
