Please note that this post is funded for the 2026/27 academic year onwards so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2026.
The School of Vocational and Technical Studies (VTS) at South Thames College is looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Construction lecturer to deliver outstanding quality teaching, learning, assessment and tutorial support to students to maximise achievement and continuous improvement. This post plays a key role in supporting the development of the curriculum with employer engagement and learner skills development.
Youll develop, initiate, promote and sustain innovative and quality improvement intervention strategies and actively contribute to the school community, identifying opportunities for employment and skills focused study for learners.
Wed like you to hold a relevant qualification in Construction or a related field and hold a teaching qualification (or willing to work towards). With recent UK teaching experience in Construction in an FE College, youll have proven ability to plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons.
With a good understanding of current FE curriculum frameworks and quality standards, youll have strong classroom management skills, able to motivate diverse learners and differentiate teaching to meet a wide range of learner needs. Youll be proficient in the use of digital technologies to support teaching, learning and assessment, able to manage workload and meet deadlines.
There will be up to £5K uplift (pro rata) if the candidate has the following:
Relevant Vocational Qualification (Level 3)
Teaching qualification or willingness to complete
Relevant industry experience
There will be a further uplift up to £5K (pro rata) if the candidate has the following:
Recent teaching experience in Construction in an FE College
Relevant Vocational Qualifications in more than 2 trade areas
Relevant industry experience in 3 or more trade areas
The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
