Overview
Consultant Psychiatrist - General Adult Psychiatry, Inpatients (10PA). This post will attract a Recruitment & Retention Premia of £40k payable on commencement of employment. Eligibility criteria apply and staff currently employed by the Trust would not be eligible for this premia. The post is based in Barrow in Furness, within the Older Adult Inpatient team on Ramsay Ward, Dane Garth Unit, Furness General Hospital (FGH). The post is full time (10PA) and includes participation on the Consultant On Call rota (0.5 PA + 5% supplement).
Responsibilities
The postholder will work with a multidisciplinary team, including nurse consultant, psychologist, clinical leads, community mental health nurses, occupational therapy, HCA, and trainee advanced clinical practitioner. The role is supported by a resident doctor and an SAS Doctor. There is an active monthly peer group in the Cumbria locality. The post holder will be expected to participate on the Consultant On Call rota, with additional remuneration as noted.
The role is based in Ramsay Ward within the Dane Garth Unit at Furness General Hospital, a large district general hospital with around 268 beds, A&E, and a full range of specialties. The Dane Garth unit already hosts FY1s, FY2s, a CT and GPSTs.
Other duties include collaboration with the Trust’s medical education and professional development activities, and potential opportunities to develop areas of interest, supervision, and leadership roles as appropriate to the post.
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* Full GMC registration and Licence to Practise
* On GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of eligibility
* Section 12 approval or within 3 months
* Approved Clinician (AC) status or within 3 months
Experience: Knowledge, skills and experience appropriate to this role.
Contract and Benefits
Remuneration aligned to the New Consultant Contract; salary range £109,725 to £145,478 per annum. Permanent, full-time position.
At least 2.5 SPAs for a full-time post, with flexibility to support wider Trust ambitions.
