Laboratory Technician - Tunbridge Wells Our client, a well-regarded secondary school in Tunbridge Wells, is seeking an organised, enthusiastic and reliable Laboratory Technician to join their thriving Science Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with laboratory experience-or a strong interest in science and hands-on practical work-looking to develop their career in a supportive school environment. The Role The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Technician and teaching staff to ensure the smooth running of Biology, Chemistry and Physics practical lessons. Responsibilities include: Preparing, setting up and clearing away practical equipment and resources Safely handling chemicals, solutions and scientific apparatus Maintaining and organising laboratory equipment, glassware and stores Supporting teachers during practical activities and demonstrations Ensuring all work complies with health and safety and COSHH regulations Managing stock levels and ordering consumables as required Assisting in the development of new practicals and experiments Contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the science preparation areas The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is: Highly organised, practical and detail-oriented Confident working with scientific equipment (training can be provided) Knowledgeable about laboratory safety and COSHH (or willing to learn) Able to work independently as well as part of a team Calm, dependable and able to prioritise workload effectively Positive, approachable and comfortable working in a school setting Experience in a laboratory, technical, STEM, or school environment is desirable, but candidates with the right attitude, aptitude and willingness to learn will be fully considered.
