Are you a Fire Alarm Engineer who’s looking for a change? Let’s swap that beeping panel for something with a bit more spark! We’ve just landed more maintenance work than ever, and we’re on the lookout for a Fire Alarm Engineer who’s ready to take the next step and become a Maintenance Electrician. No, you don’t need to be fully qualified yet. We’ll give you the training, qualifications, and mentoring to get you there, all while paying you properly along the way. What you’ll be doing You’ll join a close-knit team of multi-skilled engineers, working across commercial sites on a mix of electrical maintenance, repairs, and small works. It’s hands-on, varied, and ideal if you want to broaden your skills beyond alarms. We do our best to keep your patch local, but you’ll cover the wider South West occasionally (at least the scenery’s decent). You’ll get a company van, fuel card, and smart scheduling software that keeps your day running smoothly. What you’ll need Solid experience with fire alarm systems or electrical works (you’ll already be comfortable on the tools) A keen interest in training up to full maintenance electrician level A cool head under pressure and pride in your work Full UK driving licence Eligibility for a DBS check (some sites involve working around vulnerable people) Who we are We’re Sherwoods, a family-owned business that’s been running since 1970. We’ve doubled in size since 2019 and aren’t slowing down any time soon. We believe in growing our own, promoting from within, and giving people a workplace where they actually want to stay. What to do next If you’re curious, hit apply for a quick, informal chat. Don’t stress if your CV’s not up to date, just send what you’ve got and we’ll take it from there. Everyone gets a response.
