Overview
The Big Issue is looking to appoint a Support and Outreach Worker to help vendors improve their income through magazine sales and to provide casework support. The role supports our belief of “A Hand Up Not a Hand Out” by improving our service to vendors, promoting The Big Issue in the local area, building partnerships with third-party organisations and identifying opportunities to move people out of poverty.
You will have experience and knowledge of working with vulnerable adults in a frontline setting, along with the ability to offer effective sales advice and guidance to help vendors increase their income through magazine sales.
Responsibilities
* Promote The Big Issue in the local area and build partnerships with third-party organisations.
* Identify opportunities to move people out of poverty and support vendors accordingly.
* Provide frontline casework support to vendors and offer sales advice to help increase income through magazine sales.
* Support and outreach activities to improve service delivery for vendors.
Requirements
* Experience and knowledge of working with vulnerable adults in a frontline setting.
* Ability to offer effective sales guidance to help vendors increase income through magazine sales.
* Willingness to travel throughout the region as required; role based in Glasgow with regional vendor support.
Salary and Benefits
* Salary of £28,122.24 per annum
* Incremental holiday entitlement starting at 25 days per year plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part time staff) plus paid leave to care for a sick child or grandchild and a sick or elderly relative

Workplace details
The role is based at our offices in Bath Street, Glasgow, but you will be supporting vendors throughout the region and must be willing to travel as required.
