The Role Requires You To
* Practice independently as a Nurse Colposcopist, accredited by the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP).
* Hold the Colposcopy Screening Programme Lead (CSPL) role as set out by Public Health England (PHE) for the Trust.
* Work as an advanced practitioner and effectively lead and deliver an expert nursing service within the Gynaecology Department.
* Maintain a cost-effective service, based upon the objectives of the department, care group and the Trust.
* Manage a caseload of patients within the Colposcopy service and lead the multi-disciplinary team meetings ensuring reviews are conducted timely and patients are kept informed.
* Ensure that patients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and social support.
* Assist in the development of evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.
* Provide an evidence-based specialist nursing service, which is responsive to user’s needs, to a cohort of patients referred to the specialist service/MDT.
* Work clinically for 80% of the role demonstrating advanced practice skills in the holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for the cohort of patients within the specialist service.
* Complete any necessary colposcopy administration, audit, MDT planning and national reporting for 20% of the role.
* Manage a cohort of patients and prioritise workload to meet patient and service need.
* Undertake clinical competencies relevant to this specialist service to demonstrate expertise in extended nursing roles.
* Assess and effectively manage individual psychological reactions to diagnosis, treatment and associated side effects.
