*Job Overview*We are seeking a skilled Vehicle/Plant Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery and vehicles, including excavators and forklifts. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience working with electrical systems, fabrication, and welding. The position is fully paid and requires a proactive approach to equipment upkeep to ensure operational efficiency and safety across our plant operations.*Duties** Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and plant equipment* Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical experience to identify issues accurately* Perform repairs on heavy machinery such as excavators, forklifts, and other plant equipment* Utilise hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to repair or modify machinery* Execute electrical repairs including soldering and wiring according to schematics* Carry out mechanical repairs involving assembly, disassembly, and replacement of parts* Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts used* Assist with equipment upgrades or modifications to improve performance or safety standards* Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations* May have to travel to Mainland UK and Ireland.*Experience** Proven experience in mechanical repair of heavy machinery or vehicles within an industrial environment* Strong knowledge of electrical systems related to plant machinery* Skilled in fabrication, welding, soldering, and reading schematics* Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators or forklifts* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during maintenance tasks* Prior exposure to assembly work or equipment repair is highly desirable* Customer service skills are beneficial for liaising with internal teams or external clients regarding repairs or maintenance issuesThis role is ideal for a dedicated professional with a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems and electrical components in heavy machinery.
