Fabrication Engineer
Location: St Helens
Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Key Responsibilities:
* Confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Create fabrication drawings.
* Work from client specifications and produce shop‑ready drawings.
* Understand tolerances, weld symbols, and surface finishes.
Software Skills:
* Competent in relevant engineering and drawing software packages.
Hands‑on Fabrication Knowledge:
* Welding processes.
* Cutting, drilling and forming techniques.
* Assembly methods.
* Jigging and sequencing of work.
BS EN 1090 & Compliance Knowledge:
* Material traceability requirements.
* Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
The Successful Candidate Will Be Able To:
* Clearly explain drawings and technical information to workshop staff.
* Identify potential issues early and communicate practical solutions.
* Work independently with minimal supervision.
* Manage workload effectively and maintain high standards of quality.
Ideal Background:
* Time‑served Fabricator/Welder who has progressed into an engineering role.
* Strong understanding of fabrication and workshop processes.
* Experience producing fabrication drawings and supporting production teams.
