Purpose of the Role

The Clinical Lead plays a pivotal role in providing clinical leadership and management across the organisation. Working in close collaboration with the Deputy Clinical Lead and the Charity Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for the effective delivery, development, and continuous improvement of the Talking Therapy Service.

The postholder will provide strategic direction, oversee line management of the contracts team, and be accountable for ensuring all clinical statutory, contractual, and professional obligations are met. This role also carries responsibility as the organisation's Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Key Accountabilities & Performance Indicators

· Ensure consistent delivery of services in line with contractual requirements.

· Achieve no less than 90% positive feedback on Friends & Family tests.

· Ensure at least 90% of patients enter treatment within 7 days, allowing for necessary delays.

· Monitor recovery levels across the clinical team to ensure individual rates remain above 60%.

· Conduct weekly audits of patient records to ensure adherence to contractual protocols.

· Develop, support, and upskill the clinical team, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional growth.

· Maintain uptodate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

· Maximise effective use of clinical resources.

· Act as Data Controller, ensuring the safe and confidential handling of all clinical data in compliance with GDPR.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Management:

· Provide leadership to the clinical team, ensuring delivery of best practice in line with statutory, contractual, and professional requirements, including BACP's Ethical Framework and NICE guidance.

· Act as the first point of contact for the clinical team, providing advice, supervision, and escalation support.

· Oversee allocation, triage, and assessment of new patients.

· Manage and support clinical staff in safeguarding, crisis referrals, secondary care, and perinatal pathways, including recording, monitoring, and reporting.

· Lead weekly HUTT clinical interface meetings and quarterly clinical team meetings, delivering training on identified knowledge gaps.

· Review and update safeguarding policy and procedures as the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

· Liaise with partner organisations and health professionals regarding patient care.

Supervision, Standards & Governance:

· Act as a role model for high professional standards of practice and conduct.

· Ensure all clinical staff maintain auditable CPD records, with safeguarding and BACP requirements met.

· Confirm that all staff are in receipt of regular clinical supervision and provide evidence of compliance.

· Authorise extensions of care and charitable sessions where appropriate.

· Undertake monthly audits of case records to ensure adherence to legal, contractual, and organisational standards.

· Ensure compliance with House of Light policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.

Training, Development & Accreditation:

· Mentor and support trainee counsellors, ensuring progress along the IAPT contractual training and accreditation pathway.

· Support clinical staff in achieving and maintaining professional accreditation, assisting with applications and resubmissions.

· Develop, update, and deliver induction and training programmes for both the contracts team and perinatal services.

· Deliver perinatal training programmes to internal teams and external organisations.

Strategic & Organisational Contribution:

· Contribute to the strategic planning of the organisation in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team.

· Positively represent House of Light at clinical networks, sector events, and through media and social media engagement.

· Support the development of support groups and student/volunteer placements.

· Contribute to fundraising initiatives and relevant research activities.

· Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships to promote collaborative working.

Team & HR Responsibilities:

· Manage recruitment processes for new clinical staff, including shortlisting, interviewing, and onboarding.

· Address staff noncompliance and disciplinary issues in liaison with HR.

· Support team wellbeing and address personal, interpersonal, or fitness to practice issues with appropriate HR involvement.

· Monitor clinical team performance, including session numbers, recovery rates, and extension requests, providing support and training to improve outcomes.

· Ensure regular team meetings are held to communicate updates and address issues.

Clinical Practice:

· Maintain a small personal caseload to ensure therapeutic skills are current and to role model professional standards.

· Complete accurate clinical records within 24 hours in line with contractual requirements.

· Provide direct support to service users, signposting to external agencies as appropriate.

· Carry out HUTT assessments as part of the CFD Pilot, providing feedback to HUTT on progress and outcomes.

Other Duties

· Undertake any other reasonable tasks commensurate with the role and responsibilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £52,000.00 per year
