Role Description
The Senior Research Scientist will pay a key role within our small but experienced and supportive team. Our overall aim is to advance enzyme-based solutions for food applications, leveraging analytical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic vision to drive research, development, and intellectual property management initiatives within the business.
We are looking for a candidate with demonstrable enzyme expertise in the sphere of food and food applications.
Key aspects of the role
· Developing novel enzyme applications and tailored to address both emerging and established customer needs
· Pioneering the development of analytical cutting-edge techniques by leveraging appropriate technologies
· Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enhance knowledge and expertise in the utilization of enzymes in production processes and understanding customer requirements
· Conducting independently tests and analyses using diverse methodologies (e.g. GCMS, UV-vis, HPLC), adeptly resolving inherent challenges, and presenting comprehensive reports detailing methodologies, findings, and pertinent information
· Providing training to laboratory personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge
· Upholding a well-organized laboratory environment, including equipment, instruments, and
related apparatus as well as adhering to all health and safety procedures.
What you could offer to Amano
Your educational background would ideally be in Food Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Processing, or a related scientific field, with a strong background in enzyme applications. At least the achievement of a Master's degree, coupled with 5+ years' experience in a commercial laboratory setting, is essential.
You would possess a profound understanding of chemical characteristics, formulations, and their impact on food properties, with demonstrable expertise in food analytical methodologies (HPLC, GC, and/or MS) for product development.
You would already be well-rehearsed in interacting with customers, other stakeholders and academic institutions, as well as having the experience (or the enthusiasm) to present at conferences, trade fairs and events where presenting to peers and like-minded people is the norm. There would be some global travel with this role.
