GSL Education are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a supportive school environment in Lancing from September 2025.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), moderate to severe learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) and speech and communication challenges. You will play a key role in helping students develop confidence, independence, and access the curriculum in a way that meets their individual learning styles.
As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will be:
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEN.
* Assist teachers with planning and adapting classroom activities.
* Implement personalised learning strategies and behaviour plans.
* Use a range of communication methods such as Makaton, PECs, and visual aids.
* Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
* Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all learners.
SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Requirements:
* Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs.
* CACHE Level 2/3 or relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning (desirable but not mandatory).
* A degree in Psychology, SEN, Counselling or a similar field is desirable but not mandatory.
* A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with pupils with additional needs.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
* Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
