Are you a Health & Safety Advisor looking for a new role? A leading solutions provider in the water sector is seeking an accomplished Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join their SHEQ team, supporting a high-profile infrastructure programme within the Severn Trent Region.
Based out of their Derby office, this role is crucial in ensuring the successful implementation of robust health and safety practices on a technically complex, multidisciplinary construction project involving civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering works. The successful candidate will foster a strong safety culture, drive compliance, and support the wider cultural transformation across the project.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert leadership and guidance in SHEQ procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices.
* Embed health and safety into all project phases by collaborating with site management, subcontractors, and client representatives.
* Champion a proactive safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.
* Facilitate audits and conduct accident and incident investigations.
* Support development and continual improvement of SHEQ policies, management systems, and risk controls.
* Work closely with project leadership to integrate SHEQ into operational planning.
* Analyze performance metrics, identify trends, and implement targeted improvements.
* Promote sustainable health and safety solutions aligned with project and company objectives.
* Contribute to maintaining and improving externally certified SHEQ management systems.
Candidate Profile:
* Significant experience in a senior health and safety advisory role within complex construction environments.
* Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and risk management principles.
* Experience building relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
* Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and communicate findings effectively.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence to influence at senior levels.
* Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
* Highly organized with strong time management skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
* Willingness to travel within the region as required.
