Respiratory Physiotherapist - Cystic Fibrosis
We are looking to recruit to the post of Band 5 Physiotherapist (30 hours) working with the Cystic fibrosis (CF) physiotherapy team at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the therapy team within a CQC rated 'outstanding' NHS specialist Trust. This band 5 post sits within the Cystic fibrosis team providing physiotherapy intervention to the 420 CF patients cared for by LHCH's specialist centre. The post holder will be expected to manage patients within the inpatient setting, outpatient clinics and community. Virtual clinics and wards are also a key component of the service we provide. The CF team are also actively involved in research regularly presenting at conferences alongside the wider MDT.
Main duties of the job
The role is ideally suited to an individual with an interest in respiratory physiotherapy and ideally someone with experience of chronic respiratory conditions. The post holder would be working closely with experienced CF physiotherapists and will be provided with regular supervision and support to ensure you develop your skills in respiratory physiotherapy. We offer both internal and external training opportunities to really help you to feel confident into your role and develop as a clinician.
The physiotherapy department has a growing cohort of support workers and band 5 therapists. We regularly host students across all therapy teams and have a strong working partnership with our exercise physiology colleagues and multi-disciplinary colleagues across the trust. The CF physiotherapy team work alongside the surgery, medical and pulmonary rehab teams with all respiratory physiotherapists contributing to a 7 day working roster, including a late service cover up to 8pm Monday - Friday.
This post has been developed following expansion of the physiotherapy service across 7 days per week, the successful candidate will be required to cover weekends (approx. one weekend day in every 4 week period), overnight on calls and late shifts to support the provision of 24 hour emergency respiratory physiotherapy for inpatients across the Trust. Competency based training for this will be provided.

Job responsibilities
We are a fun and welcoming team, we have a growing group of band 5s in post who regularly meet for peer support, and training. As well as this, the wider therapy team hold monthly cake days, regular social events and trust driven wellbeing initiatives which will help you to settle into the team quickly and build working relationships.
The post is 30 hours per week to be worked across four, 7.5 hour days.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree/MSc in Physiotherapy
* HCPC Registration
* Experience of management of chronic respiratory conditions including during a student placement.
* Membership of relevant clinical interest group e.g., ACPCF, ACPRC, BTS
* Previous experience of the physiotherapy management of patients with CF.
Knowledge
* Evidence of recent and relevant CPD
* Clinical reasoning skills based on evidence and current research
* Demonstrate a knowledge of the MDT and their differing contributions to patient care
* Experience working clinically within the NHS including as a student.
* Good IM & T Skills
* Knowledge of airway clearance techniques such as AD, PEP, Acapella, Flutter, NIV
