Catering Assistant – Specialist SEN School, Rawtenstall Location: Rawtenstall, Lancashire Hours: 11:30am – 1:30pm, Monday to Friday (Term-time only) Pay: £13.75 per hour Contract: Part-time, ongoing About the Role: We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join a welcoming Specialist SEN School in the Rawtenstall area. This part-time role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a school environment and is looking for lunchtime hours, with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children. As a Catering Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the preparation, serving, and clearing of meals during the lunchtime period. You will work as part of a small, friendly team ensuring the dining area is clean, safe and welcoming for all pupils. Supporting Children with SEN: This is a specialist setting for children with a range of additional needs including autism, communication difficulties, and sensory processing challenges. While this role is primarily within the catering team, you may also be required to offer additional support during mealtimes — for example, helping pupils with feeding, offering gentle encouragement, and understanding the sensory needs some children may have around food and noise. You must be confident, patient and willing to work closely with the school staff to ensure that mealtimes are calm, inclusive and enjoyable for every pupil.
