About the role
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and passionate retail assistant to join our team of Relief Shop Assistants. It’s a part time position that will see you working some days with the manager, but often being the sole supervisor for the shop. Most of our Relief Shop Assistants cover the three shops in Exeter, or the East Devon group (Sidmouth, Ottery, Honiton) but the amount of work available will always depend on how staffing levels are affected by holiday, sickness or other absence.
It’s a hands-on position that will give you a chance to develop your customer service and merchandising skills, and learn to support and motivate our loyal volunteers.
All the InFocus shops exist to make sure the charity can continue to support young adults with vision impairment and complex needs.
About you
We are looking for someone who is friendly, confident and hard-working to join our retail team. You’ll need to be comfortable working as part of a team that shares the different duties including handling cash, working the till, merchandising, and processing donations from our supporters.
There will be days when you are the only member of staff on duty, so you also need to be happy with the responsibility of opening, running and closing the shop.
Experience of retail is useful, but the world of charity retail might look quite different to what you’ve experience in other settings.
Working pattern
Shifts will be booked with as much notice as possible (for holiday and absence cover).
How we say “thank you”
1. 25 Days plus Bank Holidays (pro-rata for part-time hours)
