The Role
You will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for civil and electrical works associated with power distribution, transmission, and generation systems. You will analyse technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements to ensure costeffective and compliant project bids. Key duties-
Estimating & Costing
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil and electrical scopes in power projects, including Civil Works and Electrical Works
* Review tender documents, drawings, and technical specifications to determine project scope and cost parameters
* Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ)
* Collect, verify, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations.
* Proactively reach out to suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes
* Develop cost breakdowns, rate analyses, and preliminary budgets
Tendering & Proposal Support
* Prepare comprehensive tender submissions, including technical and commercial components
* Produce a detailed inclusions/exclusions document for each submission, clearly outlining what is included, excluded, and qualified in the quote to ensure transparency
* Coordinate with procurement, design, and project management teams to finalise bids
* Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to understand project requirements.
Project Coordination & Reporting
* Collaborate with project managers and engineers to align estimates with project execution plans
* Update estimates and budgets based on design revisions or client scope changes
* Support post-award cost tracking and forecasting
Risk, Compliance & Quality
* Identify project cost risks (technical, commercial, logistical) and propose mitigation strategies
* Ensure compliance with utility regulations, grid codes, and industry standards (IEC, IEEE, etc.)
* Adhere to company estimating procedures and quality standards
Skills & Experience Required
* Demonstrable career experience in cost estimation, preferably for power sector projects (e.g., substations, transmission lines, power plants)
* Strong understanding of utility tendering processes, including preparation and submission of bid documents and cost proposals
* Proficiency in quantity take-off, bill of quantities (BOQ) preparation, and cost analysis
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project scope documents
* Excellent communication & coordination skills
