SJM Electrical Services have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our friendly, motivated and expanding team. We are seeking a driven and methodical individual with experience in the electrical industry to lead projects from conception to completion and handover. The Project Manager will oversee technical execution, team performance, procurement, and client satisfaction while ensuring compliance with industry standards, budgetary requirements, and deadlines. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders including clients, engineers, contractors, and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
* Careful, considered project tendering to ensure all variables are covered and all allowances are made.
* Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
* Develop comprehensive schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
* Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
* Work alongside our Operations Manager to forecast and track expenditure versus income.
Team Leadership & People Management
* Lead, mentor, and motivate engineers, technicians, and support staff to achieve project goals.
* Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that emphasizes innovation, accountability, and safety.
* Alongside our job runners, you will provide guidance and coaching to junior engineers and project team members.
* Conduct regular team meetings to align priorities, track progress, and resolve conflicts.
* Recognize team achievements and encourage continuous professional development.
Stakeholder & Management Coordination
* Serve as the primary point of contact between clients, senior management, subcontractors, wholesalers, and contractors.
* Present progress updates, financial reports, and performance reviews to senior leadership.
* Align project execution with organizational strategy and client requirements.
Procurement & Vendor Management
* Plan, manage, and oversee the procurement of electrical materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
* Negotiate with suppliers to secure cost-effective, high-quality resources within project timelines.
* Establish and maintain wholesaler and subcontractor relationships to ensure reliable supply chains.
* Review purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements in compliance with company policies.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
* Ensure adherence to electrical codes, safety regulations, and quality standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, ISO).
* Conduct site inspections to verify installation quality and compliance.
* Implement and promote a strong safety culture within project teams.
Job Requirements
* A full clean driving license is required.
* IT skills including good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
* A strong knowledge of the domestic and commercial industry and site operations including working knowledge of statutory legislation regarding health and safety and the need for rigorous risk assessment and method statement processes.
* Strong knowledge of electrical systems, safety regulations, and best practices.
* Essential knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements and Electrical Safe Systems of Work
* Will need to be able to understand building services including design principles, method statements, inspection test plans, risk assessments, commissioning, and handover requirements.
* Exceptional communication skills ensuring compliance and high standards of work through effective communication with colleagues and customers/clients.
