The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Structures/Bridge Engineer to join our Amey Consulting team in Manchester. The role involves shared office space with remote work options. We welcome applications from Senior Structural/Bridge Engineers across this region.
Scotland is a significant growth area for Amey, managing long-term trunk road network contracts and various projects with Transport Scotland, Local Authorities, and contractors across the country, providing excellent opportunities for professional development.
The role
As a Senior Structures/Bridges Engineer, you will support your Design Team Leader, lead projects, mentor junior staff, and be responsible for:
* Leading a team and producing sound engineering solutions.
* Managing projects from start to finish, including quotation preparation and handover.
* Preparing and checking designs, calculations, and documentation.
* Overseeing junior staff and contributing to their development.
* Liaising with clients and suppliers, attending meetings, and responding to queries.
* Managing a small technical team and their workload.
* Contributing to bids and work-winning activities.
* Driving health and safety practices within the team.
What you will bring to us
* Experience and expertise in Structures, gained in an Engineer role or equivalent.
* Ability to produce or oversee technically sound engineering solutions.
* Proficiency with relevant software (e.g., LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).
* Good commercial awareness and understanding of CDM and risk assessment.
* Management and communication of hazards and risks, with appropriate mitigation.
* Incorporated or Chartered status with ICE or IstructE, or equivalent.
* Degree in a relevant subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
