At Gordon Murray Group, engineering excellence is only possible when the business systems behind it are equally robust. Regulatory confidence, OEM credibility, and operational scalability don’t happen by chance, they are built on structured governance, disciplined processes, and uncompromising compliance. That’s where you come in. We are seeking a Business Systems Manager to hold end-to-end accountability for our Business Management System (BMS), certification frameworks, and regulatory compliance landscape. Partnering directly with the Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure our systems, controls, and processes support strategic growth while meeting the rigorous expectations of automotive standards and OEM accreditation. Key Responsibilities You will act as the single point of authority for business systems, automotive certifications, and compliance governance. From ISO certification to Certificate of Production readiness, you will ensure our processes are structured, documented, controlled, and continuously improved. You will lead both internal assurance activity and external regulatory engagement — preparing the organisation for scrutiny before it ever arrives. This is your chance to: Own the design, governance, and continual evolution of the Business Management System (BMS), ensuring alignment with ISO 9001 and applicable automotive standards. Shape process architecture, policies, and controls that underpin OEM status and scalable growth. Lead the integration and optimisation of information management systems, ensuring workflow integrity, data traceability, and compliance with approved procedures. Establish and maintain a comprehensive compliance framework spanning automotive, regulatory, certification, and OEM requirements. Own Material Compliance Management across the product lifecycle, including substance reporting, declarations, and traceability. Lead Certificate of Production (CoP) readiness and maintenance, ensuring systems and records consistently demonstrate conformity to type approval and production obligations. Act as primary point of contact for regulatory authorities, managing submissions, audits, reporting, and where required, recall or field action coordination. Plan and govern internal audits, management reviews, and assurance activities to drive continual improvement and risk mitigation. Host and lead external audits and certification activities, ensuring stakeholders are prepared and compliance is demonstrated clearly and credibly. Serve as a centre of excellence for business systems, quality, and compliance, coaching leaders and teams in building a mature quality culture. Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure systems enable informed decision-making and sustainable business performance. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise You are a strategic and structured professional who understands that strong governance enables innovation rather than restricting it. You are comfortable operating at senior level, advising leadership teams, and representing the organisation in front of auditors and regulatory authorities. You’ll likely bring: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant numerical, science, engineering, or quality discipline (or equivalent experience). ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification (or equivalent) with proven experience achieving or maintaining certification. Experience leading or managing a Business Management System within a complex, technical, or manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of regulatory compliance within automotive or comparable sectors. Exposure to ERP / MRP process development and core business process mapping (e.g., enquiry-to-cash). Experience with Certificate of Production (CoP) within an OEM environment (advantageous). Demonstrated team leadership experience including recruitment, coaching, and performance management. Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders. A persuasive, resourceful, and self-directing mindset — comfortable challenging legacy processes where improvement is required. Clear and confident communication skills across internal and external audiences. Why this role matters: OEM credibility, regulatory confidence, and scalable growth depend on the integrity of our business systems. This role sits at the heart of that foundation, ensuring that governance, compliance, and process maturity evolve in step with the ambition of the organisation. If you want to shape the systems architecture behind a world-class automotive brand, lead audit engagement with confidence, and build a business framework that supports long-term performance, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.
