We have an exciting opportunity for an Interim Head of Housing to join the Tenant Services department. The successful candidate will lead a dynamic and committed team to deliver high-quality, empathetic, and customer-focused services while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Lead the Housing team, providing clear direction, motivation, and support to ensure a high-performing, customer-centric service.
2. Develop and implement strategies (including ASB & Community Safety) to align with the Housing Association's vision and objectives.
3. Manage daily operations of the housing service, ensuring timely delivery within budget and meeting customer expectations.
4. Monitor and report on housing service performance, achieving KPIs, and co-creating solutions with tenants and colleagues for improved outcomes.
5. Act as a point of escalation for complex housing issues, providing support and resolution to tenants.
6. Oversee the Housing department budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial control.
7. Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, partner agencies, and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
8. Ensure compliance with all regulatory frameworks, including housing law, equality and diversity standards, data protection, and health and safety.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Degree level or equivalent relevant qualification or qualified by experience (E).
* Professional qualification in housing management (e.g., CIH Level 4 or higher) (E), or willingness to work towards.
* Evidence of continued professional development (E).
* Significant experience in housing management, with proven leadership and service delivery within a housing association or similar environment (E).
* Experience managing teams, with a focus on performance, motivation, and development (E).
* Experience in managing housing allocations, rent collection, voids, and repairs (E).
* Proven experience in strategic planning, policy development, and service improvements (E).
* Experience in stakeholder engagement and partnership working, especially with local authorities, contractors, and third-party providers (D).
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
* Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to drive performance and foster a positive culture (E).
* Knowledge of relevant housing legislation, tenancy law, and health & safety regulations (E).
* Financial management skills, including budgeting and resource allocation (E).
* Understanding of issues facing social housing tenants and effective response capabilities (E).
* Knowledge of digital housing management and engagement tools (E).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (E).
* Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills (D).
* High emotional intelligence for managing challenging situations (E).
* Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines (E).
* Commitment to service integrity, transparency, and tenant improvement (D).
* Willingness to work occasionally out-of-hours as needed (D).
* A valid driving license may be required depending on the area (D).
