JOB PURPOSE
The Operations Manager is responsible for the operational leadership, guidance, and direction of the Muirhead facility. The position requires planning, directing, and coordinating the execution of repair and overhaul work and will also be responsible for formulating policies, managing daily operational activities, and coordinating the use of materials and human resources toward a goal of maximum productivity. The Operations Manager will also determine the needs, reduce costs, and analyse areas of operations that require continuous improvement activities.

7. Ensure that the organization is structured and has the talent, resources, and organizational capability to meet customer quality and technical expectations and desired customer turn-around times
8. Establish strategies, objectives, capital requirements, material and labour requirements and budgets to support customer requirements
9. Create and implement the lean roadmap for the businesses to bring operations to the next level of world class lean adoption
10. Maintain and control quality, quantity, cost, recognition of revenue, timeliness, and applicability of all materials
11. Manage and control expenses in accordance with approved budget
12. Meet or exceed measured objectives in sales, profit, turn-around time, employee/facility effectiveness and employee safety
13. Participate in the development and implementation of Muirhead business strategy and demonstrate a readiness to support business objectives
14. Participate in sales activities by setting pricing and determining customer demands through data analysis exercises
15. Ensure requirements of the customer are met, optimizing product value, reducing costs, and ensuring on-time delivery
16. Drive and support the overall continuous improvement initiatives within the facility; establishing metrics, measurements, and tools to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and communication
17. Give feedback to leadership and HR on talent needs and organizational capabilities needed to achieve higher levels of production improvement
18. People management from hiring and staffing through progressive discipline
19. Development and cross-training of technical staff and support groups
20. Coordinate and present performance reports to customers
EXPERIENCE

22. Proven record of success as a "hands on" operations management leader with at least 8-10 years of related experience
23. MRO/Production/manufacturing management in low-medium volume / high mix (Engineered) product environment preferably in the MRO or aerospace industries
24. Strong analytical thinking, problem solving skills and communications skills (both written and oral) with attention to detail
25. Extensive knowledge and experience in successfully implementing and leading world class lean operations. Prior work experience in working at organizations recognized as lean leading companies is a plus
26. Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines
27. Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to relationship-building, both internally and externally
28. Must be self-directed and can work well under pressure, multi-task, and meet deadlines
29. Strong leadership, project management and organizational skills
30. From an operations perspective, exposure to continuous improvement best practices, such as lean manufacturing and JIT is necessary in order to achieve operational excellence
31. Strong customer relations skills
32. Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, Oracle or other related business software
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:
33. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, other technical discipline or business-related field is required
34. Master’s Degree or MBA preferred
