Graduate Town Planner

I'm currently working with a well-established and highly regarded planning consultancy based in Bury St Edmunds, who are looking to bring a Graduate Town Planner into their growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate (or soon-to-be graduate) who's keen to build a long-term career in town planning within a supportive, professional environment that genuinely invests in development and training.
The Role
As a Graduate Town Planner, you'll work alongside experienced planners on a wide range of projects across the public and private sectors. You'll gain hands-on exposure from day one, with responsibilities gradually increasing as your confidence and experience grow.
Key responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
Supporting senior planners on appeals, site appraisals, and policy research
Liaising with local authorities, clients, and other stakeholders
Undertaking planning research and contributing to written reports
Keeping up to date with local and national planning policy
About You
This role would suit someone who is motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn.
You'll ideally have:
A degree (or Master's) in Town Planning or a related discipline
A genuine interest in the UK planning system
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good organisational skills and attention to detail
Eligibility to work in the UK
RTPI accreditation (or working towards it) would be advantageous but not essential.
