A vacancy has arisen for a clinical Health Care Assistant for 18.5 hours per week to support the practice nursing team in delivering nursing services. Working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in providing treatment, preventative care, health promotion, and patient education.
Main duties of the job
The core responsibilities of the healthcare assistant include, but are not limited to, supporting health promotion programmes, carrying out baseline observations (such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, pulse oximetry), undertaking wound care, venepuncture, ECGs, recording specimens, supporting minor operations, ensuring clinical rooms are stocked, and delivering vaccinations after training. Additional tasks may be assigned depending on workload and staffing levels.

Primary Responsibilities
* Support health promotion programs
* Carry out clinical observations and procedures (blood pressure, ECG, venepuncture, wound care, etc.)
* Ensure clinical areas are prepared and stocked
* Support during minor procedures
Secondary Responsibilities
* Participate in practice audits and local initiatives
* Support shared learning and complete opening/closing procedures
Qualifications
Healthcare qualification (Level 2 or 3) or working towards it.
Experience
Experience in primary care, working with the public, and healthcare settings.
Clinical Knowledge & Skills
Wound care, ECGs, venepuncture, chaperone procedures, accurate clinical note recording.
Skills
Excellent communication, polite telephone manner, proficiency in Office and Outlook, time management, teamwork, interpersonal skills, adherence to policies.
Personal Qualities
Polite, confident, flexible, motivated, problem solver, high integrity, empathetic, able to work under pressure, punctual.
Other requirements
Flexibility outside core hours, occupational health clearance.
