Electrical Engineer – Renewable Energy & Battery Storage

A Renewable energy company is scaling the next generation of rooftop solar aand energy and its infrastructure across the UK. With a strong focus on intelligent design, technical rigour, and high quality project delivery, they are now seeking an Electrical Engineer to strengthen their design and engineering capability.
About the Role
As an Electrical Engineer, you will take technical ownership of electrical design across rooftop solar, battery storage (BESS), and hybrid energy systems. You’ll play a key role in shaping early stage concepts, producing build ready designs and ensuring seamless integration with the UK grid.
Key Responsibilities
* Design & Development
* Create roof layout plans, equipment layouts, cable routing, and integration drawings.
* Lead electrical design for BESS, including configuration, safety, and component selection.
* Produce AC/DC SLDs, cable schedules, schematics, and construction-ready drawings.
* Develop grid interface designs and protection schemes.
Grid & Compliance
* Prepare and submit grid applications (G99, G100, ENA).
* Work with DNOs/IDNOs to resolve technical requirements.
* Ensure designs meet BS7671, ENA standards, and manufacturer guidelines
* Project & Construction Support
* Collaborate with principal contractors, structural teams, and project manager
* Provide technical support during pre-construction and construction phases.
* Define maintenance and access strategies for long-term operation.
* Conduct design risk assessments and participate in technical reviews.
Client Engagement
Act as a trusted technical point of contact for clients. Explain design choices, constraints, and system performance with clarity. Offer value-engineered solutions that strengthen project delivery.
About You
* Qualified Electrical Engineer with experience in renewables, electrical design or renewables
* Proficient in AutoCAD or similar design tools.
* Strong understanding of AC/DC systems, protection design, and grid compliance
* Clear communicator with strong stakeholder skills.
* Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple projects.
