About the role:
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Credit Control & Master Data Team Leader to lead our credit control and master data functions within the Finance Operations team. In this role, you’ll ensure the accuracy and integrity of customer and supplier master data, drive effective credit risk management, and oversee the timely collection of receivables, all in alignment with company policies.
You will play a key role in enhancing cash flow, minimising credit risk, and ensuring financial data integrity, whilst supporting systems improvement, including Microsoft Dynamics 365. Leading a team of credit control and master data specialists, you’ll work closely with colleagues across Finance, Commercial, and IT to deliver continuous process improvements and scalable solutions that support the company’s growth ambitions.
What you’ll do:
* Lead the credit control function to ensure timely B2B collections, minimise aged debt, and oversee accurate invoicing aligned with customer contracts and service agreements.
* Monitor customer credit limits, ensuring adherence to credit policies and proactive credit risk management.
* Manage escalations and customer disputes to resolve overdue balances professionally and efficiently.
* Provide regular reporting and commentary on aged debt, cash collections and credit risks to senior management.
* Own the end-to-end process for maintaining customer and supplier master data ensuring high data integrity, accuracy and compliance across all records.
* Implement regular review cycles and quality assurance for master data, including new account creation and updates.
* Support audits and compliance reviews by ensuring data completeness and traceability.
* Collaborate with internal teams to enhance and automate credit control and master data processes.
* Play an active role in the optimisation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365), ensuring alignment with operational and financial requirements.
* Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for data accuracy, collections performance, and team productivity.
* Drive adoption of best practice across data governance, customer onboarding, and credit assessment.
* Lead, coach and develop a team of Credit Control and Master Data Specialists, fostering a high-performing, customer-focused culture.
* Work cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and IT to ensure credit and data processes support business needs.
* Ensure compliance with internal controls, data protection requirements, and external regulatory standards.

What we are looking for:
* Proven experience in credit control and master data management, ideally in a retail or multi-site business.
* Strong leadership skills with experience managing, mentoring and developing finance or operations teams.
* Understanding of credit risk, B2B invoicing, collections and data governance best practice.
* Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across departments.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems; hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
* High attention to detail, strong problem-solving capability and ability to prioritise effectively.
