Overview
Our client, Reading Council, is looking for a Case Manager/Court Progression Manager to join their team.
Responsibilities
* Act as the key point of contact between social workers, team managers, and Assistant Directors of Children's Services.
* Provide tracking, oversight, and guidance to drive cases forward during pre‑proceedings and court proceedings, supporting social work teams to meet court timescales.
* Drive improvement through quality‑assuring, monitoring, measuring, and tracking the progression of court proceedings.
* Analyse case progression, identify causes of delay, and raise concerns where necessary.
* Provide support and challenge to social work teams, assist in the preparation of written evidence, and ensure consistent application of good practice.
* Attend Legal Planning / Gateway meetings and monthly tracking meetings.
Qualifications
* Qualified social worker registered with Social Work England.
* Substantial experience working within family justice, including direct involvement in care proceedings and complex child protection matters.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess case progression and identify delays.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and coaching skills.
* Proactive, highly resilient, and capable of managing competing priorities across multiple authorities.
Work Arrangement
This is a locum role that can be performed fully remotely. The role works with clients in Wokingham and Bracknell, located close to train stations. Ideally, the case manager would visit in person once a week or fortnightly, though this could be omitted for the right candidate.
