Job Overview Applications are invited for the post of Speciality Doctor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery on a locum basis to provide maternity cover. The post is based at the Wexham Park Hospital Heatherwood site of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will join a busy and innovative team. We are looking to appoint a high quality person who will add value to the department. We seek applications from candidates with demonstrable expertise in secondary care orthodontics. Candidates must have full GDC registration with a minimum of 2 years hospital experience in Oral Surgery or Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Main duties of the job This post requires a self-motivated doctor with some Oral & Maxillofacial surgery experience to work with other trainee doctors and consultants to care for the emergency and elective patients of OMFS and Head & Neck. A broad-based knowledge in all aspects of OMFS is beneficial but the weekly timetable can be adjusted considering the experience of the successful candidate and the needs of the service. The successful candidate will work as a member of the middle grade team who all are both medically and dentally qualified doctors supporting services across the network. The job plan will be subject to change with the agreement of the post holder and the OMFS Clinical Lead. The post holder will be supervised, supported, and collaborate with other practitioners as agreed to be appropriate with the OMFS Clinical Lead. So far as is consistent with the proper discharge of the designated duties of the post holder, he/she should undertake to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues. The post holder undertakes, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. Frimley Health Trust benefits on Vimeo Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities This is a fixed term (10 PA Programmed Activities) post, designed to support the duties of the existing Oral & Maxillofacial clinicians, based at Wexham Park Hospital and Heatherwood Hospital, part of Frimley NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be expected to undertake OPD sessions and L/A Minor Oral Surgery sessions as well as the view of undertaking day case operating lists carrying out mostly dentoalveolar and soft tissue surgery. Please refer to the attached Job Description/Person Specification for further information, Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Full GDC Registration BDS or Equivalent Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent. Desirable criteria MBBS MFDS MJDF IMRCS Post graduate qualification e.g. MD PhD Full General Medical Council (GMC) registration Experience Essential criteria Minimum of 2 years hospital experience in Oral Surgery or Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Broad based experience in general Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Experience of teaching Experience in Clinical & operative dentoalveolar surgery Desirable criteria Independent operating experience in day case theatres Experience in MDT Evidence of leading a programme of research Skills and Knowledge Essential criteria Ability to communicate clearly and effectively Evidence of passion for patient care Ability to be decisive Interest in medical audit, an understanding of process Desirable criteria Evidence of team building and cooperation Commitment to developing skills in junior staff Demonstrate ability to train junior doctors Basic management course or higher qualification/diploma Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust (FHFT) is proud of its strong reputation, record of achievement and ambition for the future.
