Job Description

Business Development Manager (Lubricants - Automotive, Commercial, Industrial)

Company: Universal Lubricants (East Anglia)

Location: Field-Based (Covering East Anglia & Surrounding Territories)

Office Base: East Anglia (Occasional visits required)

Working Hours: Full-Time

About Us

Universal Lubricants is a well-established and forward-thinking supplier of premium engine oils and lubricants to the automotive and industrial sectors. We offer a high-quality product portfolio through our partnerships with leading brands, including Fuchs, Atlantic Lubricants (sole UK distributor), and Millers Oils.

Our reputation is built on delivering both exceptional products and outstanding customer service to a diverse and growing client base. As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking an ambitious and self-driven Business Development Manager to strengthen our presence across East Anglia.

The Role

This is a full-time, field-based position. You will spend the majority of your time out on the road, face-to-face with clients, acting as the driving force behind our revenue growth.

While our main company headquarters is based in London, you will be directly connected to and supported by our newly opened branch in East Anglia. You will occasionally be required to visit the office for strategic meetings, training, and team collaboration.

Reporting directly to the Sales Manager, you will represent multiple top-tier supplier ranges, selling directly into independent workshops, commercial garages, agricultural plants, and motorcycle/automotive specialists.

Key Responsibilities:

* New Business Development: Identify, target, and secure new B2B opportunities through proactive prospecting, cold calling, networking, and face-to-face meetings.
* Account Management & Growth: Develop and strengthen existing customer relationships through regular engagement, with a focus on increasing spend, improving margins, and maximising long-term value.
* Consultative Sales Approach: Understand customer requirements and deliver tailored lubricant solutions. Confidently present products, overcome objections, and negotiate commercially beneficial agreements.
* Target Achievement: Consistently meet and exceed weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales targets.
* CRM & Reporting: Maintain highly accurate and up-to-date customer records, meeting notes, and sales pipelines within the CRM system.
* Internal Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to promote special offers and new products, and collaborate with internal branch staff to ensure seamless, responsive customer support and delivery.

About You: To be successful in this role, you must be a natural, resilient salesperson with a "can-do" attitude and a genuine passion for building client relationships.

* Experience: Minimum 2 years of proven B2B field sales experience. Previous experience within the Oil, Lubricants, or wider Automotive sector is highly advantageous.
* Sales Acumen: A consultative, value-driven sales approach with strong skills in pitching, negotiating, and objection handling.
* Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English; you must be an engaging, adaptable, and persuasive communicator.
* Traits: A motivated self-starter who is target-driven, organised, punctual, and capable of working well under pressure.
* Tech-Savvy: Proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM database management.
* Requirements: A valid UK Driving License and full right to work in the UK are strictly required.

What We Offer:

Competitive Salary & Commission: A strong, competitive base salary paired with a highly rewarding, performance-based commission structure.

Company Car: A fully expensed company vehicle provided for all your field travel.

Great Company Culture: Occasional team gatherings, social events, and outings designed to foster strong team bonding and a supportive, collaborative work environment.

Career Growth: A genuine opportunity to grow within a dynamic and expanding organisation.
