About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to join their growing tax team in Nottingham. Key Responsibilities
Client Management & Technical Delivery
* Manage a portfolio of corporate tax clients across various sectors, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with all UK tax obligations
* Prepare and review corporation tax computations and returns (CT600) for a range of entities including SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and larger corporate groups
* Provide technical tax advice on corporate transactions, reorganisations, group relief, and capital allowances
* Handle complex tax issues including transfer pricing, R&D tax credits, loss relief planning, and group structures
* Lead tax planning initiatives to optimise clients' tax positions and identify opportunities for tax efficiency
* Manage quarterly and annual tax compliance deadlines, ensuring accuracy and timely submission
Team Leadership & Development
* Supervise, mentor, and develop junior tax staff and trainees, providing technical guidance and performance feedback
* Review the work of team members to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with firm standards
* Delegate work effectively and manage team capacity to meet client deadlines
* Contribute to the recruitment, training, and retention of tax professionals
Business Development & Client Relations
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for tax matters
* Identify opportunities to expand services within existing client relationships
* Support business development activities including proposals, pitches, and networking events
* Contribute to the firm's technical expertise and thought leadership in corporate tax
Compliance & Quality
* Ensure all work complies with professional standards, regulations, and firm quality control procedures
* Stay current with changes in UK tax legislation and communicate relevant updates to clients and team members
* Respond to HMRC enquiries and manage tax disputes when they arise
* Maintain appropriate documentation and working papers for all client engagements
Essential Requirements
* Qualification:
ACA, ACCA, ATT, or CTA qualified (or equivalent)
* Experience:
Minimum 4-6 years of corporate tax experience within an accountancy practice
* Strong technical knowledge of UK corporation tax, including tax computations, CT600 preparation, and corporate tax planning
* Proven experience managing client relationships and leading tax engagements
* Experience supervising and developing junior team members
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly
* Proficient in tax compliance software and Microsoft Office Suite
Desirable Requirements
* Experience with international tax matters and cross-border structures
* Knowledge of indirect taxes (VAT) and employment taxes
* Experience in specific sectors such as manufacturing, retail, healthcare, or professional services
* Strong network within the Nottingham and East Midlands business community
