The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Data Centre Operations Manager to lead the delivery of mission-critical engineering services at Santander’s Carlton Park campus.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for managing a team of engineers and specialist contractors, ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of a complex data centre environment. You’ll play a key role in maintaining business-critical systems, driving service excellence, and supporting continuous improvement across the estate.
What You'll Be DoingKey Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operation and maintenance of data centre infrastructure, ensuring full compliance with SLA and statutory requirementsManage and develop a team of Shift Engineers, Senior Engineers, and Team LeadersOversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive works, and subcontractor activitiesEnsure accurate maintenance records, statutory logs, and reporting systems are in placeDrive a customer-focused service delivery aligned to client expectationsManage incident response, escalation, and resolution through to completionApprove permits, RAMS, and safe systems of workConduct daily team briefings and prioritise operational activitiesMaintain full compliance across critical assets and systemsCollaborate with wider engineering teams across the campus to ensure seamless service deliveryIdentify opportunities for technical improvements and innovationManage performance, training plans, and development of the engineering teamSupport commercial activities including quotations, cost control, and supplier managementWhat We're Looking ForAbout You
You’re a confident and technically strong leader with experience in data centre or critical environment operations. You’ll bring a strong understanding of engineering systems alongside excellent people management and stakeholder engagement skills.
Essential Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical EngineeringCity & Guilds, HND, or equivalent in an Engineering disciplineExperience & Skills
Proven experience managing engineering teams in a critical environment (Data Centre preferred)Strong working knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems, HVAC, and building servicesAbility to lead incident management and escalation processesExcellent communication, organisational, and leadership skillsCommercial awareness with focus on service delivery and cost efficiencyExperience managing compliance, permits, and safe systems of workWhat You’ll Bring
