Band 3
Emergency Surgical Hub

1x 36 hour post & 1x 28 hour post

An exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual has become available within the surgical division to help direct and improve patient flow and outcomes. As a patient flow and capacity coordinator you will be joining a highly motivated and dynamic team within the Emergency surgical Hub and other surgical wards who every day strive to achieve great patient care and experience. As a brand-new role within the surgical setting, you will be awarded with fantastic opportunities to help develop the service further and have a huge impact on patient experience by helping to reduce waiting times during their time in hospital.

We are seeking an individual with vision, creative ideas and a "can do" approach and most importantly someone who is passionate about making a difference to our surgical patient's journey throughout their admission. You will be supported by a well-established, experienced team who are strong advocates for always improving patient care and experience.

Main duties of the job

The Emergency Surgical Hub Patient Flow and Capacity Co-ordinator is an essential role within the Surgical Directorate.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive service to the trust with a focus to facilitate effective and timely discharge of patients no longer requiring acute care. Working closely with the surgical bed manager to monitor and facilitate patient flow to achieve the 4 hour National Patient Safety Initiative and avoid 12hr DTA breaches.

The post holder will also be responsible for the organisation of the Surgical HOT clinic bookings within the Emergency Surgical Hub, working alongside medical staff, nursing staff, advanced nurse practitioners and the emergency surgery coordinator. The post holder will need to liaise with the consultants within the speciality in order to book the appropriate patients into the HOT clinics.

The role requires a consistent and coordinated approach to the operational management of patient flow. Patient flow within the organisation is pivotal to the quality of patient care to enable the team to provide a positive, safe, patient experience with no delays.
