Analytical Services

We offer commercial analytical lab chemistry testing for food and drink, including: nutritional and health, microscopy, biochemistry, allergens, chromatography, packaging, cereals and ingredients, and wines and spirits

What you'll be doing

Passionate about chemistry and ready to put your degree to work in a dynamic, client-facing laboratory environment?

We're looking for a Senior Laboratory Technician (G2) to join our Analytical Services team at our Chipping Campden site, with a start date of March/April 2025. This is a predominantly laboratory-based, on-site role and, due to our rural location, applicants will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

* Undertaking routine and bespoke analysis of food and associated materials using advanced instrumental techniques including GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS, HPLC, and ICP
* Booking in samples, preparing samples, and reporting results accurately to clients
* Producing accurate laboratory records, calculating results, collating data, and preparing analytical reports
* Troubleshooting and problem-solving issues with complex equipment and methods with minimal supervision
* Coordinating and prioritising your own workload to meet client deadlines
* Assisting with the training and technical supervision of junior team members
* Supporting method research and development and contributing to proficiency testing
* Maintaining quality standards in line with Campden BRI's business management system
* Shared responsibility for ordering reagents, consumables, and reference materials
* Contributing to ongoing improvement and efficiency activities across the team

What we're looking for

* A degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
* A-level Chemistry at grade A or B (or equivalent)
* Experience working in a laboratory environment
* Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to compile clear scientific reports and interact confidently with clients
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage complex, multi-project workloads
* A methodical, proactive approach and a commitment to quality
* Computer literacy and general technical competence

What we offer

* Reward platform with employee discounts and rewards
* 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
* Buy and sell holiday scheme
* A generous work save pension scheme, with employee contributions matched by the company up to 10%
* Culture focus around work/life balance (early finish Fridays)
* Subsidised onsite restaurant
