Be-IT are working with a well known Organization to recruit a Financial Crime Data Modeler on a full-time, permanent basis. This role can be worked through a hybrid model and is based in Glasgow. This is an Assistant Vice President level role (AVP).


As a Financial Crime Data Modeller you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with business processes, regulatory requirements, and technology strategies.


You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop advanced data strategies and modelling frameworks across a variety of platforms to support the detection and mitigation of financial crime.


Key Responsibilities:


* Translate business and regulatory requirements into robust data models that support organisational goals.
* Develop and maintain data dictionaries and glossaries to ensure consistent definitions and usage of data elements.
* Collaborate with the Database Administrator to analyse data usage patterns, identifying opportunities for optimisation and improvement.
* Define strategic data architecture and participate in technology and product selection.
* Create logical designs within relevant domains (technical, data, operational), mapping processes, data flows, inputs, stored data, and outputs, while identifying shared components.
* Implement architectural solutions and take ownership of resolving design-related issues.
* Define and document data architecture standards, principles, and long-term strategies.


Assistant Vice President (AVP) Expectations:


* Provide expert advice and influence decisions, contributing to policy development and driving operational effectiveness in collaboration with other business functions.
* Lead teams in delivering complex work, leveraging advanced professional skills and knowledge. Set team objectives, coach for performance, and manage reward outcomes.

* For individual contributors, lead collaborative and cross-functional projects. Guide team members, identify when additional expertise is needed, and propose innovative methodologies to achieve outcomes.
* Provide consultation on complex issues and support People Leaders with the resolution of escalated matters.
* Identify and mitigate risks while contributing to the development of policies and procedures that support governance and control.
* Own and strengthen risk management and control practices within your area of responsibility.
* Work in close coordination with other business areas to ensure alignment with wider organisational objectives and strategy.
* Conduct advanced analysis using data from multiple sources (internal and external) to solve complex problems effectively and creatively.
* Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and appropriately, tailoring delivery to different audiences.
* Influence and persuade stakeholders to drive alignment and achieve desired outcomes.


You’ll work closely with data scientists, compliance, and risk management teams to refine detection strategies and ensure regulatory alignment.


To succeed in this role, you should have:


* Strong data analytics and modelling expertise, with proficiency in programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, SAS, or similar.
* Experience using data modelling tools like ER/Studio.
* Applied knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning to improve financial crime detection capabilities.
* A deep understanding of financial crime regulations and experience applying them within a financial institution (preferred).

* up to £80k DOE + bonus
* Hybrid working - twice a week in the office
