We are seeking an experienced Section Engineer to support delivery of works on the high-profile Net Zero Teesside scheme. This is a major infrastructure project contributing to the UK's decarbonisation strategy and energy transition goals.
The Section Engineer will take responsibility for a defined section of works, coordinating site engineers, subcontractors, plant and materials to ensure safe, compliant and programme-driven delivery.
Role Responsibilities
As Section Engineer, you will:
Take ownership of a specific section of works from planning through to completion
Coordinate and supervise Site Engineers working within your section
Plan and organise labour, materials and plant requirements
Liaise with subcontractors to ensure works are delivered in line with programme and specification
Monitor daily progress and address technical or logistical issues
Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications and tolerances
Maintain accurate site records, diaries and documentation
Oversee Quality Assurance (QA) processes, inspections and testing
Ensure ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans) are implemented and completed correctly
Support temporary works coordination where required
Promote and enforce high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
Raise and manage technical queries (TQs) and interface with design teams
Skills & Experience
Proven experience working as a Section Engineer or Senior Site Engineer on major infrastructure or heavy civils projects
Strong knowledge of QA procedures and site documentation processes
Experience coordinating engineers, subcontractors and site logistics
Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and specifications
Good understanding of programme management and sequencing of works
Strong communication and leadership skills
Proactive approach to problem-solving and issue resolution
Experience on energy, industrial, heavy civils or large-scale infrastructure schemes is desirable.
Qualifications (Desirable)
Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline
CSCS Card (appropriate level)
SMSTS or SSSTS
Temporary Works Supervisor/Coordinator (advantageous)
