Assistant Pastor for Redeemer Church London

Church Context
Redeemer Church London is a lively evangelical church in Ealing. It is led by a team of 5 Elders, including the Senior Pastor, Pete Cornford, and employs 6 people in total. It is a church of approx. 400 people and meets three times on a Sunday: 9:30 & 11:30 at the University of West London and 6:30pm at The Hub. It is a church with an international vision and highly values the diversity of those attending. We place a high priority on Bible centered ministry, together with a commitment to give space for the Holy Spirit to work in our meetings. Redeemer Church London is part of Advance and the Evangelical Alliance.
Position Overview
The purpose of this role is to help the church to make disciples. It is a people focused job facilitating and supporting people growing in their relationship with Jesus. The job includes one-on-one discipling as well as overseeing small groups and larger gatherings. We are looking for an assistant pastor who will support visitors in making Redeemer their home. The role will mean developing and maintaining systems that help others have opportunities to reach their potential in God. Ideally this role would lead to the applicant joining the eldership team.
Job Tasks
* The Assistant pastor will be key in recruiting, training and developing small group leaders. They will provide ongoing support and have the ability to sign post people to resources that could help.
* The role would help connect new members to the church through welcome lunches, Join the Family evenings and Discipleship Threes; as well as seeing people added to the men and women’s ministry events.
* Training would be a part of this role, whether that is the Advance Theology Course, The Intentional Discipleship program or a degree with a program such as Union. In conjunction with the Senior pastor this role will raise up younger leaders and potential leaders for the future.
The individual would also be involved in pastoral situations such as supporting Gospel community leaders, working alongside the Deacon for pastoral care or discovering and sign posting to other Bible based supportive programs. A degree of flexibility is required for this role, meaning that other impromptu tasks may need to be taken on board and actioned.

* Be a good ‘team player’ and team builder with experience of supervising, motivating and encouraging others.
* Have proven organisational and administrative skills.
* Be able to set realistic goals and targets and be able to set a pace of work sustainable in the long-term.

#3 Christian Commitment:
Due to the nature of this role, it is a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) under the Employment Equality Act (Religion or belief) Regulations 2003 that the post holder is a truly committed Christian, in support of the Ministry of Redeemer Church London. In determining whether the applicant meets this specification, this will in part, be considered demonstratable by the following additional specifications:
* Seeking to have sound biblical knowledge
* Applying biblical knowledge to daily life situations
* Promoting the application of the bible to those around you
* Upholding the bibles biblical teachings, including those relating to life from conception and on sexual relations.
* Regularly attending a Church or Christian Fellowship
