Learning Support Assistant - Southampton
Academics are recruiting Learning Support and Teaching Assistants with good behavioural management skills in Southampton to fulfil daily supply, short term and long term full-time contracts. The role involves enabling young people to develop and make progress by providing physical, emotional and nurturing support during the school day as well as supporting the teacher in the classroom. Availability is typically Monday to Friday between 8:30am and 3:30pm; full-time roles are preferred by client schools to ensure consistency in the classroom. Strong communication skills are important to build relationships with students and staff. The position involves supporting the classroom and students as a whole and, when necessary, working on a 1:1 basis with children who are lower level learners or who have challenging behaviours.
Responsibilities
* Support the classroom and students throughout the day.
* Assist the teacher with classroom tasks and supervision.
* Provide 1:1 support for learners as required.
* Contribute to a stable, happy and caring environment prioritising health, safety, care and welfare of young people.
Qualifications and Attributes
* Strong team player, confident, motivated and well organised. Patience and commitment are essential.
* Previous experience in a classroom or educational setting is advantageous, but not required; applications from those with other relevant experience will be considered.
* Availability Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm (full-time preferred for consistency).
