This is a unique opportunity to shape the role from the ground up, supporting our Operations Manager with day-to-day QHSE activities while also leading on environmental compliance across our operations. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that we meet and exceed our legal, regulatory, and sustainability obligations while fostering a culture of responsibility, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide support to the Operations Manager in day-to-day QHSE activities across our recycling facilities.
* Promote and uphold company policies, ensuring compliance with management manuals, permits, and regulatory obligations.
* Record and investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, working with the management team to agree corrective actions.
* Carry out health, safety, and environmental reporting, inspections, and audits.
* Review training needs and document requirements in collaboration with ETM Management.
* Build trusted relationships with external stakeholders, including the Environment Agency, local authorities, and community representatives.
* Deliver training, lead audits, and champion initiatives that embed environmental responsibility into all areas of the business.
* Analyse environmental data, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
* Act as a credible and informed ambassador for our environmental performance.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
* WAMITAB certification
* IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) or working towards this qualification (training can be provided).
* Strong knowledge of environmental legislation (e.g., Environmental Permitting Regulations, Waste Framework Directive, ISO
* Familiarity with Environment Agency requirements and permitting processes
* Ability to interpret and apply evolving UK and EU environmental laws.
* Ability to conduct investigations, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and internal inspections.
* Passion for promoting environmental awareness, training, and continuous improvement across teams.
