Salary: £28,000 to £33,635 per annum (depending on experience)

At Serco, we are on the lookout for a dedicated Maintenance Tutor to join our dynamic team at the new Category C Prison, HMP Fosse Way. Your Mission
As a Maintenance Tutor, your primary goal will be to develop, administer, and deliver engaging educational programs that align with the core curriculum and awarding body specifications. You will work closely with Education Managers and the Head of Learning and Skills to enhance employability, reduce reoffending, and prepare prisoners for a successful return to the community.
Your Responsibilities
* Design and implement educational programs that meet course objectives, continuously improving quality.
* Create individual lesson plans and utilize high-quality materials to maximize learning opportunities.
* Oversee the accreditation process for learners enrolled in your courses.
* Maintain accurate records of attendance, work, and learner achievements.
* Foster positive relationships with learners to create an effective learning environment.
* Deliver engaging lessons of 2 hours and 45 minutes as required.
* Set targets and provide constructive feedback through Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
* Manage resources within budget and encourage learners to value them.
* Evaluate your work and encourage learner feedback to enhance program development.
* Ensure certification for learners participating in your courses.
* Promote all program activities and maintain up-to-date promotional materials.
* Collaborate with colleagues to enhance program delivery and promote education and training.
* Adhere to all statutory and company requirements, reporting any security concerns promptly.
* Develop links with other disciplines and maintain information exchange with partners.
* Support good standards of learner behavior and take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
* Conduct rub down searches of prisoners as required for security purposes.
What You’ll Need
Qualifications:
Minimum:
* Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF)
* Level 3 - Subject Specialism
* Level 3 Training, Assessing and Quality Assurance (TAQA) or willingness to work towards
Desirable:
* Level 4 Award in Education and Training (QCF)/Certificate in Education/PGCE
* Level 5 - Subject Specialism
Experience:
* Proven experience in a role requiring strong communication skills.
* Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
* Recent teaching experience in your subject area.
* Experience in a custodial environment is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
* Ability to build strong working relationships.
* Proactive in self-directed learning and training.
* Capable of establishing internal and external links as needed.
