Creative Learning Officer
With circa 2,000 seats, Sunderland Empire is the largest seated theatre between Manchester and Edinburgh. A grade II listed building from the Edwardian era, with an exquisite Rococo interior, it hosts an exciting and high-profile programme, from the latest West End musicals and the most spectacular Disney shows, to community performances, rooted in the city and serving the north of England. The Creative Learning department engages local adults, children, and young people from a diverse range of backgrounds through our work in schools, our regular weekly programme of classes and our community projects. You will also benefit from the support of Sunderland Empire Theatre Trust who champion our work.
Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver meaningful learning and participation activities for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds in schools, the theatre, and community settings as part of a varied high-quality programme.
* Collaborate with schools, arts organisations and visiting production companies to support programmes that encourage new and more diverse audiences and participants into the theatre.
* Be collaborative and flexible, committed to access, diversity and inclusion, and work in our iconic theatre, in schools and in community settings.
* Build and nurture partnerships to support the Creative Learning programme and expand opportunities for participation.
Qualifications / Experience
* Deep understanding of good practice in working with different participant groups.
* Ability to work with schools, arts organisations and visiting production companies to support programmes.
* Commitment to access, diversity and inclusion.
