Travel Required: Daily commuting to our office in Brislington, Bristol. Frequent travel to customer sites in company vans or personal vehicles. Infrequent overnight stays are occasionally required.
We’re seeking a skilled AV Installation Engineer to join our technical team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the hands-on installation, integration, and commissioning of audiovisual systems for our diverse client base. You’ll work closely with project managers, designers, and clients to deliver high-quality AV solutions on time and on budget. You will lead the on-site portion of installation projects, coordinate with other installation engineers, and make on-the-ground decisions while delivering projects.

The Permanent Installations and Venue Servicing department sits alongside the Hire, Production, and Sales departments, providing turn-key solutions as the one-stop shop for the South West and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, configure, and integrate audiovisual equipment, including displays, projectors, video conferencing systems, control systems, audio DSPs, speakers, and related infrastructure
* Terminate and dress cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, Cat6, fibre optic, audio, etc.) according to industry standards
* Mount equipment in racks, on walls, and ceiling locations following engineered drawings and specifications
* Install and configure AV-over-IP systems, networked devices, and control processors
* Pull and terminate low-voltage cabling through walls, ceilings, and conduit
* Test all system components to ensure proper functionality and signal flow
* Perform system commissioning and quality assurance checks before client handoff
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installation and post-installation
* Verify system performance meets design specifications and client requirements
Documentation & Coordination
* Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation blueprints
* Document as-built conditions and any deviations from the original design
* Coordinate with general contractors, electricians, and other trades on job sites
* Maintain accurate project logs and timesheets
* Report project status and any issues to project managers
Client Interaction
* Maintain professional demeanour on client sites at all times
* Communicate installation progress and timelines to clients and stakeholders
* Provide basic end-user training on installed systems
* Ensure job sites are clean and organised throughout installation
Safety & Quality
* Follow all safety protocols and regulations on job sites
* Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
* Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
* Adhere to company quality standards and installation best practices
Required Experience and Skills
Experience
* 2-5 years of hands-on experience installing audiovisual systems
* Proven track record of successful AV installations in commercial environments
* Experience working from technical drawings and installation documentation
Technical Skills
* Strong understanding of AV signal flow, video formats, and audio distribution
* Proficiency with AV equipment from major manufacturers (QSC, Sennheiser, Sony, Panasonic, NEXO etc.)
* Experience with cable termination and testing (HDMI, HDBaseT, Cat6, XLR, etc.)
* Knowledge of AV rack building and equipment mounting best practices
* Familiarity with basic networking concepts (IP addressing, VLANs, switches)
* Comfortable using hand and power tools for installation work
* Ability to read and understand technical blueprints and wiring diagrams
Soft Skills
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
* Excellent time management and ability to work independently
* Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients
* Professional appearance and customer-service orientation
* Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities
Other Requirements
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
* Reliable personal vehicle for travel to job sites
* Ability to pass Enhanced DBS Check
* Eligible to work in the UK
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
* Experience with Dante audio networking or other AVoIP technologies
* Basic programming knowledge (Q-Sys, Allen and Heath AHM, ETC, Pharos, SY Electronics)
* Experience with specific vertical markets (corporate, education, or house of worship)
* PASMA or IPAF 3a/b
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
* Comfortable working at height on ladders, scaffolding, or aerial lifts (up to 8+ metres)
* Work in various environments, including active construction sites, completed facilities, ceiling spaces, and equipment rooms
* Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime to meet project deadlines
* Daily travel to client sites within the south west; overnight travel occasionally as needed

Compensation
* Competitive salary: £30,000 – £36,000 based on experience
* 28 days holiday per annum, including bank holidays
