The Technical Team is responsible for the daily technical requirements of a busy and varied programme, including professional & amateur performances, workshops, masterclasses, conferences, and film screenings. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to learn alongside a small team, providing high-quality technical operation of the venue and excellent support to visiting artists and clients hiring spaces within Pavilion Dance, all while adhering to health & safety regulations.
This role will include:
1. Learning to set up and run live performance, participation events, and films at various locations.
2. Learning to operate and program lighting (ETC) and sound (QLab + Allen & Heath) for a wide range of events.
3. Assisting external hirers with technical support, ensuring the best customer service.
4. Collaborating with Front of House colleagues to set up spaces for classes, talks, and meetings.
5. Ensuring studios, workshops, stores, and stage areas are kept safe and tidy.
6. Cleaning, maintaining, and repairing technical equipment as needed.
7. Supporting general maintenance of Pavilion Dance where appropriate.
8. Attending planning meetings and rehearsals as required.
9. Understanding and following health & safety standards to promote safe working practices.
10. Contributing to PDSW’s environmental commitment by reducing, recycling, and reusing resources.
11. Participating in training sessions, staff meetings, and staff development activities.
12. Supporting the Technical Manager in logging equipment and maintaining inventory.
13. Contributing to show reports and incident reports for management.
14. Undertaking additional duties within the scope of the role as needed.
Additional Information
* This role involves manual handling and lifting (approx. 20 kg).
* This role involves working at heights (Theatre rig 5.5 m).
* This role requires late-night work, weekends, and bank holidays.
