Why Join KPMG as an In-House Overseas Tax - Assistant Manager?
This role is within the Internal Partnership Tax Team of KPMG UK, responsible for all tax matters related to KPMG UK. The role involves data analysis, research, and advising on overseas tax and reporting requirements, especially when colleagues travel or work overseas for business or personal reasons.
What will you be doing?
* Review and respond to client teams on tax implications of overseas work for specific engagements, considering corporate tax, employment tax, indirect tax, and social security, and communicate findings non-technically.
* Liaise with specialists within the firm to ensure all overseas tax liabilities are considered and discuss technical issues with the team.
* Consult with non-tax colleagues (e.g., immigration, IT) to understand and mitigate non-tax risks related to overseas travel.
* Assist with registration requirements with overseas tax and regulatory authorities as needed.
* Prepare analysis and draft overseas corporate tax calculations to support tax return preparation, requiring strong Excel skills and data analysis.
* Handle withholding tax queries, liaising with finance teams and overseas contacts to provide documentation to mitigate withholding taxes.
* Manage functional mailboxes for queries on operating policies, WHT, and travel approvals.
* Research double tax treaties and liaise with overseas tax colleagues for advice.
* Maintain and monitor related databases, ensuring updates and follow-up actions.
* Advise stakeholders on changes in legislation and reporting requirements in different countries.
* Develop relationships with stakeholders and overseas tax advisers within the KPMG network for knowledge sharing.
What will you need to do it?
* ATT qualification and/or experience in UK or overseas tax compliance, with willingness to develop technical knowledge.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.
* Ability to manage workload independently.
* Respect for confidentiality.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and work as part of a team.
* Ability to quickly analyze and synthesize information.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel & SharePoint.
